About Our Classes
Come play in the mud with a local ceramic artist! Join one of our group classes or call to schedule a private pottery class at a time that’s convenient for you—mornings, afternoons, and evenings are possible.
We start each pottery class by dolling out drinks (we’ve got a variety of beverages to chose from, and you’re welcome to BYOB as well). Then we take students on a tour of our studio, which is housed inside a rustic adobe built in the early 1900s in the Railyard District of Santa Fe and has been part of the Santa Fe art scene for three decades.
During class, you’ll learn about the entire process of making pottery, from creating your masterpieces on the wheel today through how we will take them through the rest of the process: trimming, drying, bisquing, glazing, and firing. You’ll have an opportunity to make two pieces, and at the end of class you’ll choose a glaze color for each. Then we’ll handle the rest and let you know when your new works of art are fresh out of the kiln. If you don’t live in Santa Fe, we can ship them to you when they’re ready.
Classes are taught by volunteers including Angela Smith Kirkman, a ceramic artist with nearly thirty of experience who specializes in rustic dinnerware influenced by years of travel. Angela has recently taken over Paseo Pottery and launched its new charitable mission. She’s excited to be sharing her pottery passion with fellow mud-lovers.
Cost: $75/person includes a two-hour class complete with all materials, clay, glazes, and firing. Call to reserve your spot or book right here on our calendar.
